Before electronics, rider modes, and TFT dashes, there was this: the CBR900RR-3, better known as the 954 FireBlade and it might just be the sweet spot of the Blade lineage. Weighing just 168kg dry and chucking out 149bhp from its 954cc inline-four, this was Honda at its analogue best: fast, focused, and sharper than a surgeon's scalpel. With fuel injection, revised chassis geometry, and race-ready Showa suspension, the 954 was a huge leap over its predecessors and still feels tight and rewarding today. It's comfortable enough to ride to work, but make no mistake, lean on it and it absolutely flies. The last of the truly raw Blades before the litre-class arms race took over.
