1973 Ford Escort MK1 Mexico Replica

This 1973 Ford Escort MK1 Mexico Replica is a solid car with significant investment put into it, running and driving exceptionally well.

The car features Mexico wings and front quarter bumpers. It is finished in black with Mexico decals and genuine Cibie spotlights. Most of the work was completed about 8 years ago, and the car still looks great, despite a few minor marks typical for its age. It also includes a Mexico rear stone guard.

Under the hood, it boasts a 1600 Crossflow engine with a high lift cam and a Burton alloy rocker cover, running on twin 45 Webers. Additional features include:

  • Ashley exhaust with a 4-2-1 manifold
  • RS rear axle with 9" drums and tramp bars
  • New chrome bumpers
  • Single leaf rear springs with Spax adjustable shocks
  • One-piece prop
  • Wilwood pedal box, master cylinder, and bias valve
  • Recently serviced with brakes bled

The interior is equipped with RS rolltop seats in the correct Beta cloth, an RS 3-spoke steering wheel, and a functional 6-dial dash. It also has black headlining and sun visors, new carpets, and door cards.

It rides on 6x13" JBW RS4 alloy wheels with Yokohama A539 tires.

Overall, this is a great-looking, well-maintained car.

 

This is a lovely car that turns heads and always commands attention when out on the road. The engine is fantastic and will drive along at 30mph perfectly happy or just keep revving. The gearbox is tight and selects all gears as it should with the clutch having a nice bite to it and not snappy at all.

Braking performance is taken care of by 2 master cylinders for the front and rear braking system. A nice positive feel on the pedal giving you confidence.
 

The interior is in great condition, these also tip forward to allow access to the rear seats. Windows and door locks all work as they should.  All gauges on the dash work correctly and the engine holds excellent oil pressure.
 

Classic cars and in particular Fords are a great investment with prices only going up.
