Here we have a 1990 MK2 Golf GTI 1.8 8V in fantastic Schwarz black, this is the sought after version being a 3 door big bumper car. It’s super rare in that its a low owner (4owners), low milage car (138,000 miles), its been very well looked after by all its owners and because of this its an extremely solid shell and the engine runs beautifully. The first keeper owned and cherished the car for over 25 years, he kept it garaged and because of this its in fantastic condition, it has been subject to a comprehensive recommission in the last 6 months.

As part of the recommissioning work the car has had a new scuttle panel fitted to take car of a few spots of rust that were appearing around the wiper arms, common on MK2’s, the rest of the body is corrosion free  (especially in the usual areas - door bottoms and filler cap). Exterior trim is in excellent condition and complete, a new windscreen and seal has been fitted, as well new headlights and spot lights, replaced with “NOS” original Hella units. In addition the fog lights have also been replaced for new units.

The engine has had a comprehensive overhaul including a top end rebuild with new hydraulic lifters, new cam belt, auxiliary belt and water pump. The cooling system was overhauled with new radiator, radiator fan and coolant pipes in addition to a full service including new coil, leads and spark plugs. All gear linkage bushes and rods have been replaced, the result is the engine runs sweet and the gearbox is crisp and precise!

Underneath the car is set up on brand new fully adjustable coilovers giving a lovely lowered stance, in addition to all new mounting hardware, beam bushes, new front wishbones, all new brake lines, brake master cylinder and rear brake callipers.

The brand new 16 inch deep dish wheels and tyres are a special commission from B-Star and cost £1300 alone as they are limited edition.

A fully stainless exhaust system has also just been fitted giving a nice subtle burble, it sounds amazing when changing down through the gears.

Internally the car is as it left the factory, the striped GTI interior is in great condition, it also has a new headliner fitted and an expensive Alpine stereo with iPhone hook up.

The Golf comes with MOT till September 2024 (no advisories), the car starts on the button, pulls well through the gears, drives wonderfully and stops well, its getting harder and harder to find MK2 Golfs as good as this one, money has been no object bringing it up to a high standard.

All modifications done to the car can easily be reverted back to factory standard if the new owner wished, find another in this condition!
